THE KAITLYN GOOD FAMILY
The Kaitlyn Good Family was Ohana's first paired THON family when our organization was established in 2008! The Good Family is made up of Kaitlyn, her sister Allison, and her parents, Jeff and Suzy. At just two years old, Kaitlyn was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) in 1993. Over the next 26 months, Kaitlyn received chemotherapy, had multiple hospital stays, and went through many surgeries. Kaitlyn was declared cancer free in 1996! Although we did not meet Kait until 12 years later, she lies at the core of our organization.
Kait truly is a representation of Ohana’s motto and why we do what we do. We are so honored to know Kait and to be paired with such an incredible family; Kait is the backbone of our organization and we are so inspired by her way to make every Ohana member so loved and important. This really contributes to the family-feel of our organization! The relationship we have formed with Kait and her family over the past 17 years is remarkable, and we hope we can continue to pair with this incredible family.
Currently Kaitlyn enjoys working at a restaurant bussing tables and chatting with the regular customer. In her spare time she is an ambassador at GiGi’s Playhouse, a center for changing the way the world views Down Syndrome. She is involved in many activities there each week.
Kait loves to play bowling and tennis. She looks forward to competing in the Special Olympics in these events every year. Kaitlyn also loves going to Disney, and her dog Molly. She loves singing and dancing, especially on stage at THON! Her most favorite thing of all is being an Aunt to her nephew. She loves having the title of Aunt Kaitlyn!
We have fallen in love with every member of the Good family and welcoming their family into ours has been nothing short of an unbelievable experience. We look forward to seeing her mother Suzy, her father Jeff and her sister Alison just as much as we do Kaitlyn. Alison is a Penn State graduate and was very involved with THON throughout her college years. The Goods love Penn State and always look forward to making trips to Happy Valley. That's how we have learned what Ohana is really about: family.
